Relaxo has a pan-India distribution footprint operates a network of over 350 retail outlets and is available on all major e-commerce portals.
With more than 8 manufacturing facilities harboring the capacity to produce ~7.5 Lac pair/day cross India, Relaxo continuously focuses on optimizing their operations for faster and more efficient production of high-quality products. Such manufacturing excellence supports Relaxo’s leading position in the market. Manufacturing execution systems (MES) have been playing a key role in this optimization to track and document the transformation of raw materials to finished goods. MES provides information that help manufacturing decision makers understand how current conditions on the plant floor can be optimized to improve production output. MES works as a real time monitoring system to enable control of multiple elements of the production process (e.g. inputs, personnel, machines and support services).
As a result, tonnes of data are generated every day from the end points deployed throughout the production process. The Relaxo IT team needs to find a new storage solution to replace their legacy equipment and manage growing data from manufacturing facilities to ensure data will always be readily available. “We need to store backup of around 1000 end points on 10 different locations, and replicate backed up data to central location in HQ for taping on external media”, said Mr. Ajay Tyagi, GM of IT.
After comparing different solutions and conducting a thorough evaluation, Relaxo decided to procure 11 units of QSAN XCubeNAS to install at different locations. XN8008R was installed in those plants and XN8012R with higher capacity was installed at HQ. Each XCubeNAS unit came with built-in backup software (Xreplicator) for 100 end points as well as XMirror supporting real-time synchronization cross multple QSAN NAS units at different locations. At the end of each day, when the backup tasks of end points were completed in each XN8008R, the backed up data would be replicated to XN8012R at HQ immediately. QSAN and its channel partner, Nubigo Technologies, worked as a team and offered exceptional support during the installation.
